Most owners and CEOs love having talented leaders, but what satisfies them the most, by far, is that they know how to lead within the community, especially with other leaders, and not just with the staff under their responsibilities.
Considering yourself or being considered a leader has become one of those qualifiers and references that are mandatory in an excellent CV today. Even if you are not valued as a leader in an organization, you might consider looking for another job.
Fortunately, we have an extended range of courses, books, conferences, and articles about personal leadership, giving us advice and proposing diverse theories to become excellent leaders at any price.
But, in my opinion, the true gift of leadership in a business organization has nothing to do with personal leadership or what a leader should or shouldn't do or related to previous achievements. It is about understanding reality with common sense and collectively creating a better future.
All starts with the individual’s aspiration, wanting to achieve those results that day-to-day demands from us. However, we are not alone, and here is the big challenge: when you are not the only leader in a group. Apart from listening, understanding, accepting, and empathizing with others, we must lead in the community, with other leaders, and with those collaborators who do not want or do not aspire to be leaders.
Leading in a community is not so difficult when all leaders put their beliefs and self-centeredness aside and work for the organization’s benefit, thinking and creating collectively. And, unfortunately, that does not happen frequently and is one of the most widespread 'diseases' in companies.
